BBC #31 and House Mouse Monday Challenge

I can't believe it is the last day of August already! The last day of the Big Blog Challenge too. Maybe there will be a September BBC? Today's prompt is to tell of a funny vacation story. Of course my goofy mind takes me back to when I was 14 I think. Somewhere around there, we had gone up north for Labor Day weekend camping (up north being NW Wisconsin). While we were there the discussion was that we should go to Canada for fishing. After some "arm-twisting" we traveled further "up north" to Barrel Lake in Ontario Canada. One night while we were there most of the family and relatives went fishing at night. I stayed in with my little sister and cousin's wife. While they were out a storm started brewing up, so they were trying to get back to camp to safety of the campers and rv's. Well they somehow got off course and ran the boats aground. Finally ashore they were laughing at my younger brother who was building a lean-to to shelter himself from the wind and rain. Soon they were all building their own lean-to's for shelter. If I remember correctly they walked back to the campground, how they ever made it is beyond me. I guess some of them knew their way around that lake. Not a funny story then, but funny when they laughed at my younger brother and soon were building there own shelter. I think my brother had an excellent "what did you do over summer" story for back to school.

I made a couple of House Mouse cards this week. I could not decide if I liked the Hang in There one well enough to enter so I made another. Challenge #2 is Lace it Up. We were to use lace somewhere on our card, atc, layout.

I used Prismacolor pencils and mineral spirits to color in the images.
I used Fiskars rope border punch and McGill Daisy punch for Hang in There. SU stamp Hang in there and EK Success 3/4" round punch for daisy center. Bazzill and Bazzill Bling cs used and a ribbon to top it off, oh and Glossy Accents for the daisy center.

Be Mine - I chalked the Cardstock, chalked the paper doilies and matted them on SU pp. Add a heart with ribbon through it and voila!

Yesterday was also Scrappin In Toledo Crop...SIT is a Yahoo group and we meet once a month to crop. It is a pot-luck crop so we always have yummy food to keep our strength up while we crop hehehe! I got a couple of spiral notebooks altered and one card made. You'd think for an all day crop we'd get more done, but then we also gotta gab too. Tim calls it the yenta meeting. Oh and since there were only four of us we had a field trip to a few scrap stores! Ok so here are the spiral notebooks. I was happy these spiral notebooks were unlined so I could turn them sideways and they can be used as sketchbooks, idea books, circle journals, etc. Thanks Connie for the spiral notebook RAK!!

Oh and after seeing DT Stacy's House Mouse using Amanda Writes stamp I just had to see if I could come up with a card using that stamp! I like how the sentiment is positioned near the ink pen. I used ink to watercolor the ink bottle and then used the same ink to stamp the sentiment. I used Prismacolor pencils and mineral spirits to color the image. I wish the image would've scanned darker, but I think you get the idea.

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you have a wonderful Labor Day holiday!
