Chicago & Beyond

Last night about midnight Mitchell called to say he was stranded in Chicago. Megabus decided to cancel the 11:59 pm bus. I called his father because South Milwaukee is only about 2 hrs away from Chicago. He says to me well he'll just have to stay there overnight. Well hello, let's give this guy Father of the Year award! We finally decided after a few calls that we were going to have to drive to Chicago to pick Mitch up. He was using a cell phone from another gal and she allowed us to call a few times before she headed to the airport for further transportation. We drove the 4 hours to Chicago and then back right away...talk about tired! I got a little sleep when we arrived back in Toledo. I dozed a few times while Tim was driving, but didn't really sleep. He slept on and off most of the way. Mitch called a few more times, hoping we'd get there sooner. Union Station kicked them out and closed the building for a few hours. By the time we got there Mitch was frozen like a popsicle. He had on three pair of pants and two t-shirts, 2 sweatshirts, plus a jacket, mittens, scarf and a hat. I picked up the jacket this evening and it's more like a fall jacket there is not much stuffing to keep warm on a winter's day. We drove through blowing snow and whiteouts, it wasn't too bad on the way there. The wind had picked up on the way home so it was blustery cold and the blowing snow created whiteouts at times.

Mitchell told us his dad gave him $50 for Christmas and told him we're not bad people. Now isn't that the quote of the week?? I decided to give him a call and ask him if Noah gets stuck in Chicago tomorrow will he be there to get him. Explaining that Tim missed a day's work, the tolls paid and the gas that was all $$ lost. He said he couldn't have gotten Mitchell last night because there was bad weather advisories. I said what makes you better than us? We drove it, he was like huh? I just said I told you that Tim missed a day's work, we paid tolls (more for us because IN and OH have tolls, but only IL has tolls WI does not collect tolls) and gas. He said Mitchell said he took the bus, I said he didn't say that he said yes he did when I called earlier. When he called earlier he asked Mitch if he got there okay and he said yes. So his dad just assumed he took the bus. Mitchell didn't lie. He always tries to make it look like Mitch is lying to me. So I told him if he isn't going to come get Noah if he is stranded and we have any trouble getting Noah out of Toledo then I'm canceling the tickets. We can't do this another day/night this week! The first thing my ex tells me when I ask him if he'd get Noah if he ends up stranded in Chicago is he won't. I said Oh, he won't huh? He said No, the weather isn't supposed to be bad tomorrow. I said oh and just because you say so. So I said well we'll see if the buses are running tomorrow. I tried calling today and didn't have any luck. So hopefully I get through tomorrow because I also need a refund for the trip from Chicago to Toledo. Here I thought the Megabus was the best solution. It's fairly inexpensive, but at the holidays it's a pain. So we'll see how tomorrow goes, maybe I'll have both my boys for Christmas!! :D
