Every month Unity Stamp has a Be Inspired challenge. I decided to do the color challenge with a new item that I'm hooked on altering and that is the cigar box. It is kind of funny that I'm showing you the second one. The first isn't quite complete and of course doesn't fit the parameters of this challenge. The big boss of our department smokes cigars, of course I didn't remember this until I purchased my first cigar box...I really thought they gave them away. So I asked him where he got his cigars, thinking I could go there and ask for cigar boxes. He said he bought his online and would bring me boxes if I wanted. I said sure a couple would be great. He brought me a whole grocery bag full! This not very deep box was in there and at first I wasn't sure what I could do with it. Then I remember my mom is a tea drinker and sometimes you do see tea boxed up prettily for a gift. So that's what I decided to do alter the cigar box to hold tea envelopes.
I used the coffee cup from Unity Stamp and paper pieced the rays on the cup. It came on a kit with A Cup of Sunshine sentiment, that I'm unable to locate at the moment. I did find a Mary Engelbreit that says Tea is a Cup of Life. I used Glossy Accent on the cup to help keep the paper piecing in place and to make it look more like a cup. I used Tattered Angels Glitter Mist all over the top. The flowers were sent to me by my craftin' sister Carolyn! I found the flowers around the edge in my stash and may have come from my friend Laura. I usually do not buy too many frou frou things for scrapbooking/card making.
Here is my altered cigar box.
Let me know what you think. I'm hoping to donate this box for a benefit for my cousin if it works out. Oh and you have a few more days to join the challenge it doesn't end until Feb. 11. Thanks for taking time to stop by and I hope you have a wonderful week!
