Stars, Stripes and more
I'm always amazed at what inspires me. Does that sound funny to you? I see a challenge and I think I have an idea what I'm going to do but then I cannot come up with how to lay it out. Then I see something else and am like Oh yeah! That's what I'll do. I love stars on cards, layouts, etc. I found this Inkadinkado star stamp at Big Lots and just had to have it because it was just exactly what I was looking for. This week over at Stamptacular Sunday Challenge is a Stars and Stripes challenge. I thought oh perfect I can use my stamp! My sweet friend Carolyn sent me some goodies for my birthday and in it was this fabulous striped paper. Even better is it has a manly vibe to it. I don't think I ever make enough masculine cards. So I inked up the star stamp and embossed a bunch of stars on the flip side of the striped paper which was plain. I like using white opaque embossing powder. Well I fussy cut out the stars and was trying to come up with some kind of card design and just was not having any luck. Well Thursday night I decided to look through my bookmarks for some sketch inspiration. I found a link for Clean and Simple blog that I had saved and Voila! there it was... a great sketch to make a stars and stripes card! So that is how this card came about. I love the sentiment, which also doesn't inked up enough!
While on Facebook I came across CPS card sketch 224 and made three cards using that wonderful sketch. The one below fits both Stars and Stripes challenge and the CPS 224 challenge. I had so much inspiration after blog hopping yesterday. PaperCrafts Stamping Royalty has a blog hop with all of the cards going to Operation Write Home. Which is where these cards will be going as well. I'm building up my next shipment's stash. If you can, make some cards for OWH or write some Any Hero letters, please do, they're so appreciated.
Another sweet sentiment this one from Unity stamps.
Thanks so much for taking time out of your busy day to stop by! xoxo

Hey, darlin'!!!! I have been a very bad blogging friend...I thought I left you some love on these beauties and didn't...yes, I totally suck!!! Hope you can forgive me.
I love both of your fabulous creations, especially how you used the sentiment as the focal point! I really need to try this. You always leave me SO inspired...not just by your creativity, but your loving spirit and your gentle heart!!

Hi Carmen, long time no talk! Thanks for the visit to my blog and your kind comments.
I LOVE stars too. Your cards are super and I know they are very much appreciated, I was sending a box of goodies and cards to a soldier until he recently came home he wrote a note and sent it to my Grandkids who helped pack the boxes and said the cards were so great and much appreciated by everyone. It's a great thing you do.
Hugs
Sue
