National Scrapbook Day

Yesterday when I wasn't running Noah somewhere, shopping or cooking I spent NSD on scrapbook.com. They have great challenges there all day and so many chances to win. It was my fourth year participating with them. I still haven't won anything, but it's fun to get some things accomplished. I had made a card, but not quick enough since I didn't see that challenge til about 1/2 hour into it. I also participated in the all day challenge which was to create a LO about me. Rarely do I do that, I always create LO's of the boys, Tim or family. There still is a chance to win door prizes I do not believe they've drawn for them yet. Maybe because they're PST and it's only about 8:40 am there.

Here is the card:

Here is the LO:
The hidden journaling under the photo says: I love to read! I've always enjoyed reading for as long as I can remember. I've read the back of cereal boxes, shampoo bottles and anything I can get my hands on. I've been reading quite a bit over the past month, here are some of the titles: Crossroads, The Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet, 39 Years of Short -Term Memory Loss, Home, Note to Self. **Also I want to give credit to person who created this sketch. Her name on scrapbook.com is Beggahunna and she creates some wonderful sketches and posts them on scrapbook.com. I've been collecting her sketches for awhile, so I guess it was about time I use one!!

I seem to be taken with autobigoraphies lately. Home is by Julie Andrews, 39 Years of Short Term Memory Loss is by Tom Davis - a SNL writer, and of course you can see the ones I just picked up Friday in the photo. I'm reading Always Looking Up right now. You can always scroll down to the bottom of this blog to see my bookshelf from Shelfari, I usually update it after I've finished a book.

Margy from There's a Wocket in My Pocket gave me a blog award yesterday. Thank you Margy I'm honored that you thought of me! Here is what her award looks like
. Stop by and give Margy's blog a read!

Take Care and have a wonderful week!!

HM Challenge #21 & Blog Award

I realize I'm late in posting this. My computer wasn't cooperating with me or I should say my connection. But I wanted to post this. I'm not really happy with my coloring. First time I've had to use black for coloring something other than the nose or eyes of an image. So it'll take me some more practice. This is my first Gruffies stamp and this image reminds me of my childhood. It seems like we were always putting someone in the wheelbarrow and wheeling them around.

This challenge was a color challenge and I used Bazzill Arroyo -peach/coral color, Bazzill Safari and Canson Indigo Blue. I hope these are close enough to the colors that were chosen.

I also created a birthday calendar. I have one from SU so I copied that idea but I used PP for the cover and the back cover. I wish I had a bind it all so I could've bound it. I used MS Publisher to create the calendar pages. I'm pretty happy with it. We can always think of other ways to do the pages after they're done. I hope my swap partner liked it. I'll have to take a photo of hers and post it next time. It's really so pretty and such a great design! So here it is:

I also received my 2nd ever blog award from Carolyn Bounds! I want to express my sincere appreciation for this award. I am always amazed when someone thinks enough of me to send me something like this. I really want 2009 to be the year that I spread the love instead of concentrating on all the bad stuff. I truly want to try and be more positive in 2009!

I'm going to share this award with:

Angela, Here Now

Estee, One Ginormous Adventure

Joani, Cards Made by Hand

Staci, Stop it's Scrappin Time!

Margy, There's a Wocket in my Pocket

ValAnn, ValAnn's Thoughts

Carolyn, P.M.S. Etc.

OH OH OH almost forgot! I received my bombshell stamps in the mail on Friday I was so excited to receive them. I really like the high quality stamps. The images stamp very nicely and I used the butterflies and flowers for the Birthday calendar for June. I will be stalking their DT's blogs to get more ideas. Here is one of Bombshell's DT member Confessions of a Stamper blog. Go look at her awesome creations!

Hope everyone had a wonderful weekend!!

Paper Trunk

Finally today I was able to send my handmade cards for the Cards for Heroes entry. I checked Paper Trunk's blog to see about changing the address to the Cards for Heroes address as I knew it would not arrive by Saturday. I happened to read a couple of their posts and saw that the date was extended until November 1st, so if you're thinking about getting some of your handmade cards to the servicemen and women you have a bit more time.

Noah called from his friend's place tonight to see if he could sleep over. I said you're going to go to school from Dylan's house? He's like yeah. I said you're going to wear the same clothes as you wore today, he said yeah. All of a sudden he started to snicker. I said ok you're coming home right? Thinking he was just teasing me about sleeping over. He says no, there's no school tomorrow can I sleep over at Dylan's? I said sure there is no school, he said there isn't school tomorrow. He said here, hear it from a friend. I'm thinking to myself like I'm going to believe Dylan. I happened to see the school calendar and picked it up, sure enough there is no school tomorrow. I said how come you didn't let me know earlier? He laughed and said he wanted to do it this way. Yesterday he wore my plaid clogs around the house and said these are so comfortable. When he went to his room he kicked them off in the dining room. I said that is not where you found them. He says shhh don't tell mom and heads to his room!

Yesterday I got my first blog award! I was definitely surprised as I don't consider myself an inspiration. I just enjoy what I create...well most of the time. Carolyn is such an inspiration to me, she is a DT member of the House Mouse Monday Challenge blog and always takes time to leave such nice comments on our creations that we submit. Heck, she even takes time to comment when I do not have a creation and has left a few comments on Tim's blog.

Isn't this just the prettiest blog award you've every seen! I guess it's because I'm partial to butterflies and their meaning.

Now, I am to pass this award on to six other inspirational people. There are several people I would like to give this to; unfortunately, I can only choose six. So here goes:

Priscilla of Skraptacular Designs - always an inspiration in many ways!

Staci of Stop It's Scrappin Time - I've loved and been inspired by her work since I first found her on scrapbook.com

Estee of One Ginormous Adventure - not only am I inspired by her creativity on layouts and cards, but she writes some awesome blogs that are featured on Mondays every week on scrapbook.com. Oh and she posts some awesome recipes too, I've tried a few of them myself.

Angela of Here, Now she has some awesome layouts and cards.

Catherine of Inksomnia - she always stops by and comments and like Carolyn, she stops by whether I have a creation or just a post about life. She creates some awesome cards.

Adria of Studio S - she may not post a lot, but her stamping is awesome! She is so creative as well.

So please stop by and check out these awesome bloggers! I'm so glad to have made some friends just by blogging.

Hope you're having a great week and that you have an awesome weekend! Rain is predicted here for our weather. It's been awfully cold in the mornings around the low 30's. BRRR
