Wow I can hardly believe it's challenge 9 already! The sad thing is I haven't been able to enter the challenge since #5. I tried last week, but it was Sunday evening and it just wasn't working out. For this challenge I had to try twice before I got it right. My sweetie bought me two stamps for Sweetest Day. I got these two stamps: Happy Hoppers An Apple A Day and Splish, Splash...A Citrus Bath. We also found some fabric to make curtains for the bedroom, woohoo we don't have to wake up to the super sunshine in the am :D. I will probably be sewing again tomorrow or at least getting them cut out.
Back to the challenge, this card is a little larger than I usually make. Lately I've been doing 5.5"x5.5". This time since the stamp was a little larger I went with 6"x6". I hope sometime to make it to Hollo's papercrafts to get some of the envelopes for these size cards. They have some pretty good deals on envelopes and paper. So if you live in the Cleveland area or don't mind going on roadtrip Hollo's Papercrafts is the place to go. If you go you might as well hit all the scrapbook and stamp stores along the way, hehehe.
Okay okay so here is the card.
I had to trim some of the image off in order to make it fit the card. I love this BoBunny Back to Backs dbl sided paper I think it's perfect for this. Also, the green ric rac I found at Big Lots and I think it fit perfectly. The velvet brads set it off perfectly, not sure of the brand as they were a RAK. All of this on Bazzill cardstock.
I know you've been just biting your nails waiting for the unveiling of the curtains LMAO! I finally got the curtains done in the dining room. I would like to make some for the kitchen window too, however, it may not be the same fabric print. I only have enough left to eek out a valance and maybe some hotpads. Here they are.

I now realize that the Chef theme is on clearance most places so it is no longer in style. Oh well I'm usually a day late and a dollar short. You wouldn't believe that I studied clothing design my first time around in college now would you? It was nice to sew again. I bought my current sewing machine about a yr and half ago after getting my tax return. I'm still having a hard time getting adjusted to it. I had a Sears Kenmore for 27 yrs. My parents bought it for me my first year of college, so I could sew in my dorm room rather than go to the sewing lab. I loved that machine, however, it wasn't doing what I wanted it to anymore. I couldn't find parts and doing buttonholes automatically sounded so much easier. Maybe in a few years I'll feel the same about this machine, it's got a little bit of a learning curve. Here is a pic of the front of our new place! I love it we live on a nice tree lined street and the neighbors so far seem friendly. We only moved two blocks, but the difference is noticeable.
Like the welcome mat? Noah and I were looking at them at Target after we finally got accepted for the house. He said let's get it and my unemployed self said we didn't need one that expensive. It wasn't really expensive, it's just when you're not working you don't need things right now. But he could see that I really liked it and said I'm getting it. He's taking after Tim in that respect. I do like the scrapbooky looking flourishes and the color is one of my faves.
Just about done here I have a swap that I did last week so that'll be the last thing I show you here. P.S.Carolyn, I did two out of the three you teased me about ;). Here are some mug cards I did. I had a hard time with these at least how I wanted them to come out, this is actually the fourth time I started them and actually finished them. First they were going to be out of white speckled paper, but then I wanted to do a snowman how would I get that to show up? Then I tried green bazzill but it was textured so it didn't look right, then I decided on some cardstock that was plain and stamped a snowman on the front. Well I never found the flock I wanted to use on the snowman. So I bought white felt, well during moving I just didn't feel it anymore. So I dug into my pp stash and found this dbl sided pp and used it. I found the glitter chipboard at Big Lots for $1 and added doodlebug sugar coating to the edge of the chipboard with a sakura glue pen. Found a cute little quote on www.scrapbook.com and added that to the front. I think adding it to the front of the teabag might have been better, but hindsight is always 20/20.
Tonight I went shopping for my secret pal. I unfortunately did not have any luck finding her something from her list and I went to two places. Well the second place was JoAnn Fabrics. My friend mentioned she was going to the fabric section after we looked over the scrap section. Oh yeah I said I need to look at some fabric too. I want to make curtains for the dining room and for the window in the kitchen. After looking and looking and making comments about all sorts of tie dye/hippie fabric or cute insect fabric that of course would be better suited for a toddler or preschooler. I finally found my Chef fabric. There was only 2.75 yds on the bolt I asked them to call the store near me to see if they had anymore of this fabric and they did but only 2 yds and 20". I said save it for me. I still am not sure this will be enough for all four windows especially with the kitchen window being a bit wider than the others. I just want to do cafe style curtains and a valance. I may have to put a border on the fabric too since it's only 45" wide. I also found some skull fabric that I thought would be perfect for Noah's windows. He decided to take a room in the basement and I thought a yd and a 1/2 would be plenty for such narrow windows, actually I think a yd is enough, but of course I was talked into the additional 1/2 yd just in case. I'm looking forward to getting these measured out and sewn. I should see if I can find a picture of the fabric so you can get an idea of what I'm talking about. Well I can't find a good picture of the fabric on the net. It's three chef's riding bicycles or a motor scooter with a brown/tan background. The background looks sort of woodgrain. Well I hope it'll make up into nice cafe curtains. If not I see there are a ton of cute novelty fabrics out there by Lorilynn Simms. I'll be getting creative but with fabric instead of paper. I have several windows to make curtains for, but will want to papercraft in between. I love the light that comes in this house, but when you're trying to sleep in, all the light makes it a bit difficult ;).
Thanks for stopping by and hopefully soon I'll have something creative to post either curtains, a LO or a card. :D
